Leonard Alsfeld – President and CEO of FBT Investments & Director of Compliance
Mr. Alsfeld is a 1974 graduate of Providence College in Providence, RI with a BA emphasis in English and Education. Mr. Alsfeld serves as the President and CEO of FBT Investments (FINRA Broker Dealer) since 2001 and FBT Advisors which he founded. Previous to joining FBT Investments, Mr. Alsfeld held several management positions with financial service corporations. He founded the Louisiana Association of Broker Dealers and the non-profit foundation A Child's Wish. Mr. Alsfeld has also served as a Trustee of the Jefferson Parish Home Mortgage Authority and is a member of the Securities Industry Association (SIA) and the Bank Insurance and Securities Association (BISA). Mr. Alsfeld has a Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 NASD license in addition to various insurance licenses.
Leo Barros, CFA Municipal Securities Principal, Branch Manager
A graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Mr. Barros also received a Master’s of Science in Finance from the E. J. Ourso Business School at Louisiana State University. Mr. Barros is a Branch Manager and the Municipal Securities Principal of FBT Investments and FBT Advisors. Previous to joining FBT Investments, Mr. Barros worked as research analyst with Wealth Planners in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Barros serves on the board of the non-profit organization A Child’s Wish. Mr. Barros holds a Series 24, 7, 66 and 53 licenses in addition to various insurance licenses. Mr. Barros has also completed the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst program in under 2 years and is a CFA Charterholder.
Yolanda B. Wessel, Chief Financial Officer.
A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana with a BBS in Finance and Management, Mrs. Wessel also received a MBA from Loyola University. Mrs. Wessel is Chief Financial Officer of FBT Investments and FBT Advisors since 2001. Mrs. Wessel previous employer was Howard, Weil, Labouisse, Friedrichs Inc. (Legg Mason) in New Orleans, Louisiana in which she joined the firm in 1982. She was Controller from 1990 to1994 and CFO from 1994 until 2000. Mrs. Wessel holds a Series 27 and 63 NASD license.
Jannie G. Markey, Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Operations
A graduate of Soule' College in New Orleans, Louisiana with a BS in Secretarial Science. Mrs. Markey is Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Operations of FBT Investments since March 2000 and FBT Advisors since 2001. Prior to joining FBT Investments, Mrs. Markey was the Director of Operations for American Fronteer Financial with responsibilities that covered technical support, communications, and clearing arrangements. Mrs. Markey is responsible for the day-to-day account administration and has worked with many of the nation’s largest clearing firms as well as marketing and public relations for Hibernia National Bank. She has over 25 years of financial experience with 20 years in the brokerage industry. Mrs. Markey serves on many non-profit boards.
Meg Kaul, General Counsel
Meg earned her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2010 and her B.A. from Louisiana State University in 2006. Prior to joining FBT Investments, Meg Kaul worked for Kean Miller, LLP and Adams & Reese, LLP law firms, both located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Meg has extensive experience in media, film, and entertainment law, including Louisiana tax credit transactions. Meg also has a wide background in corporate, business and transactional law, as well as compliance matters.
Meg has extensive experience in media, film, and entertainment law, including Louisiana motion picture, digital media, historic, infrastructure and R&D tax credit transactions. She acts as production counsel for motion pictures and television series filmed in Louisiana, and structures motion picture financing arrangements. Her experience includes film finance, above-the-line and below-the-line contracts, reality television contracts, employment matters, music, sound and location contracts, post-production issues, and legal services in connection with the various entertainment guilds.
Meg helps form Louisiana corporate entities, and provides guidance with respect to the Louisiana tax credit application process. She has structured hundreds of Motion Picture Tax Credit transactions regarding the buying and selling of Motion Picture Tax Credits earned in connection with Louisiana productions, including:Best of Me; Free State of Jones; Elvis & Nixon; Trumbo, American Ultra; I Saw the Light; 99 Homes; The Butler; Kidnap; Looper; Side Effects; Selfless; When the Game Stands Tall; Pitbulls and Parolees Season 4 and 5; The Escape Plan; Pepsi ShoutOut Commercial; Mecedes-Benz Super Bowl Campaign; 2 Guns; Conan the Barbarian; and Last Exorcism II.
